The nature of underwater photography has undergone a vast sea of change (and really no pun) in the last 3 decades: while the mid-eighties I saw photographers taking the waters with video and camera lenses covered with plastic to prevent leakage into and spoil their sensitive parts of the nineties saw the development of water lenses, waterproof cameras and then test that allowed one to capture moving shots of sea creatures and underwater life lighting with flash enabled. Turning to 2000 and beyond, there were a lot of improvements in the field of science and technology, resulting in large results for the field of digital photography for the whole new world thriving amateur and amateur photographers who were also interested in diving sea and other water sports related, this means being able to take photos so far unexplored and in a sincere way!
Being able to go where few have gone before and get consistently good results of advanced features in the latest underwater digital cameras supported by long battery life, artificial lighting that enhances the focus of subjects underwater photography techniques and practice are some of the advantages of modern photographers today have for themselves.
The underwater photography is now a unique segment that warrants its own special techniques, equipment and professional group. Apart naturalists and botanists study the plant and animal species of underwater life, including historians studying wrecks and anthropologists studying forms of life and the people who give birth under water, etc are groups that have an interest in underwater snapshots, plus of course, scientists and biologists to photograph and study of marine life.
To ensure your underwater pictures turn out better than usual, there are some points that would do well to remember:
• Invest in a basic digital camera designed for underwater photography as you can mess up your normal digital camera if you just cover with plastic for underwater use. Underwater cameras are equipped with special components that prevent it from getting damaged even when submerged in the murky waters and are arranged to give good blows to the limited natural light, depending on its quality.
• Always follow the guidelines set by the camera under water for best results obtained by the device and away from these can lead to great damage to their beautiful piece of photographic equipment and be difficult to repair, so it will cost very expensive.
• Always remember that going to deeper waters, the worst light conditions you will face, so you learn the techniques of underwater photography of the best possible way to use white (natural) light or some sort of artificial to combat this problem.
• You can avoid using the zoom when taking pictures under water and flash off whenever possible so the quality of pictures is greater, not blurred, which is what tends to be when the flash is used underwater.
• Check that the security of your underwater camera and do it in the store, if possible – to dip under water to check for leaks and make replaced instead of waiting to test it on an expedition and then get disappointed if it falls short and ruins the fun of taking pictures under water and its mood.
